 GSA Overview 4
This time February 27th and 28th will be overviewed, let me know if there are any mess-ups or errors in the article.

February 27th
First off this day was a 70 Star D1 match between V1RO and Dwhatever. This match was important to Dwhatever, as he would most likely lose his shot at second place had he lost this match. On commentary were Artemis and Tama, who did quite well during the match. In the middle of the race both players dropped some frames, V1RO in WDW and Dwhatever a stage later in THI. After an interesting race, Dwhatever won with a 50:41 against V1RO’s 51:43, awarding Dwhatever 47 points, and V1RO a mere 13 points.

Next up was a match in the MKDD league between JHawk & AverageTrey. JHawk won the match 11 to 2, with a couple of one second wins over Trey such as the 3-2 and 7-2. With this huge win JHawk is almost out of the danger zone, meanwhile AverageTrey looks to be in great danger of losing his spot, and will need to fight for his spot in the off-season.

Next up was Fir vs. Orolme, a match in the Odyssey league. With Orolme in last, he really had to win to climb. Fir won with a 1:02:08, to Orlome’s 1:03:17, bringing him home 48 points to Orolme’s 12 points. Fir is in the middle of the league, and does have a shot at the post-season. Hopefully Orolme will be able to retain his spot for next season, as his performances have been entertaining throughout the season.

The undefeated Fladervy raced Scrublord701 in the 4th match of the night. Defending his undefeated streak and lead in the brackets, this race was an important one for Fladervy. Not to say Scrublord couldn’t use some points, as he was falling behind on the others. It should be noted that Evansfight was on commentary and carried the action solely for 2 hours, props to him for doing so. The first game ended 28:33 to 30:54 for Fladervy, 1-0 in his favour. The game after that was even better by Fladervy, as he got a 28:20 in a race, which is a ridiculously good time for such a setting. Scrublord finished in 31 minutes flat, no chance against such a player. The third game ended when Scrublord’s internet went out after 31:06. At this point Fladervy had already finished with a 28:33. This 3-0 win made Fladervy 8-0 in the brackets.

Rockchalk19 vs Biinny was next, commentated by veteran Simply joined by Squidbird, a pairing that comically drifted off numerous times to subjects like Christmas traditions (26:03) and Spaghetti Metaphors (34:58). Binny wins with a 49:36, an average showing for someone so consistent, but enough to win over the always daunting RockChalk, who put down a respectable 50:39. RockChalk had to take some points home, he's in 9th. He took home 13 points, not enough to elevate him a spot. A very enjoyable race, definitely a recommendation.

Finishing off the night were Cheese and Protoman, the number 2 and 11 at the time. Spookybazz takes Squidbird's place alongside Simply for this race on commentary. In an amazingly tense game Protoman5 took the first game home with a 17:45 to Cheese's 17:50, which can largely be credited to a death by Cheese in LLL. In again a very tense game, Protoman again took the win after a death by Cheese, this time due to assumedly a goomba which threw him off just before the last bowser. 17:51 to 18:24 for Protoman. Cheese had already lost the match, and decided to go all in, got a 15:49 to take home at least 1 point. This is a major upset. Protoman did not finish his game, when he realised he had already lost. This was a very interesting game, as is directly affected the standings, due to Cheese losing the game.

To start off the day there was a Celeste match, Scrublord701 vs Nero_x2. Troyofathens is once again on commentary, our trusted Celeste commentator. After having lost yesterday against Fladervy today was the day to make that up for Scrublord. This is how it went: Nero wins the first, 28:35 to 31:45, takes the second too with 28:36 to 30:37, and the last aswell with a 29:33 to 30:13. Scrublord evidently came closer and closer to beating Nero, and would have had a serious shot at beating him had they played one more game. Again a 3-0 defeat for Scrublord, two huge blows in 2 days. Meanwhile Nero is holding onto the top-competitors and has a good shot at a top 3 position.

An MKDD match was next, Lothjon vs PheonixSpelledCorrectly. Pheonix needs points to stay in the top 8, Lothjon is doing fine in 6th place. The first four matches were commentated solely by GoombaNL, before being joined by OptimisticEmo. The match ended 7-6 for Lothjon, an unconventionally close match for MKDD matches, something that did add to the entertainment value of the race. Pheonix does a good job of not falling behind as he loses with the smallest gap possible. Check the match out if you haven’t seen it.

Next up was a match in the Diddy Kong Racing tournament, between peegstheprez and Profpoli. A match in the group A bracket, with Peegs winning through pure consistency. The 13-0 win was well commentated by Tridenttail and Obiyo. This huge win will probably elevate Peegs towards the second round in the tournament, single elimination races. In this case she would face the No. 2 from one of the other groups.

The most ran game of GSA, SM64 was ran for the first and last time as 4th match of the night, as  Weegee14 and akki941 took their controllers and battled it out in the 16 star league. Tharoah and RockChalk on commentary, they immediatly dubbed the match 'the battle of the titans', and hype up the encounter all the way through, textbook execution. Commentators also talk about all sorts of strats and optimizations, very few silences such as at 7:43, props to both. Weegee was 3-2, while Akki was 7-0, undefeated in 16 star matches, even beat Cheese earlier that week, when he got a 16:13 in his first match to seal the deal on the first match. Meanwhile Weegee forfeited a disastrous run in BitFS. A death in BitS cost Weegee the second match, Akki clocked in at 17:10. The last match was Weegee's with a 15:57 against Akki's 17:20. Three really entertaining races for anyone looking to watch back some races. As of writing this, Akki has a huge 16 point lead, and is already sure of 1st place this season.

For the second time in 2 days JHawk raced in the MKDD league, this time against OptimisticEmo, who was on commentary earlier tonight. JHawk won yesterday's MKDD race against AverageTrey, garnering his second win this season, with this momentum he looked to keep climbing out of the danger zone. Shout out to RasernKoopa and Pheonix  for carrying the commentary easily throughout the match. OptimisticEmo proves to be too big of a hurdle for JHawk this time. JHawk takes home 3 points, with OptimisticEmo taking home 10 points. This made OptimisticEmo 5-3 in the win/loss brackets, with 3 rounds to go his position seems to be settled at 6th place.

The 7-2 for Emo, a 1 second difference once again.

The last race of the night I watched in full, something I don’t always do, due to a lack of time. I definitely do not regret doing so, as it was a very entertaining race. The race was between TowerTV and PixelatedChaos. The commentators Jelly and Culinwino had some funny conversations such as at 33:01 about Taco's during the Robo Patrick fight. Most of their commentary is serious and professional, with the occasional comedic breeze, but could be more fluid. In the first race, Tower pulled ahead with a faster route and small optimizations, then failed Ballroom Skip and gave up the lead. Immediately after Pixelated failed Kids and had to do it 3 times before getting it right, Tower again took the lead. He held it until the end of the race, didn't give up much. Tower won with 59:35 to 1:00:05, a 30 second time difference. A death in Downtown killed the race for Pixelated, as he fell back more and more, finishing with a 1:01:00 against Tower’s 59:49. This ended the match as it’s single elimination, so the 2-0 gave Tower the win. If you haven’t seen a SpongeBob Battle for Bikini Bottom match yet, this is one you should definitely watch.

That was it for this time, next time March 1st and 2nd. I can’t promise a release date, but I aim to get them out before the end of the season. Signing off, BaxterV.

Notes:
-          Last article I mentioned a postponed match between Fladervy and Psyched. GSA Staff informed me Psyched has forfeited the match, therefore all 4 points go to Fladervy.
-          These places in the standings may not be 100% accurate, I'm going off raw numbers, guessing where it was at the time. I use current standings for these assumptions. I apologize for this.
-          Any time stamps given are taken of the official GSA VOD's account, and should match the video file, not the in-race time. Keep this in mind if you try to search a specific moment with my time stamps.
